A Heart For Kids

For as long as I can remember I have had a heart for kids. I know that I always will. More and more I believe God wants me to do something about this love for kids. I know a lot of people who think kids are a pain in the behind. All they do is whine and try to get what they want. I don’t see that in kids I see so much more.

One thing I really love about kids is there joy and forgiveness. I mean I have accidently made some younger kids angry and I go to them and they are right back to loving me. Their joy is abundant. They don’t have many worries like teenagers and adults do. At my church they have a kid’s worship time on Sundays and if you walk into that room these kids are praising God loudly. What’s so awesome about this is that a lot of adults don’t sing at all. We act afraid and feel like our voice isn’t good enough, but these kids don’t care and they love Jesus so much they have no fear of what people think. It’s amazing.

I watched this music video for a tobymac song called Christmas this Year and it was showing stuff on Operation Christmas Child. This video brings a lot of joy and excitement to my life. I like to watch it when I am having a rough day because it is so joyful. When I watch it, it makes me feel horrible for some of these kids but it still teaches me each time I watch it. It teaches me thankfulness, most of all these kids have absolutely nothing in life, but when they receive these shoeboxes they act like they just won a million dollars. They won a lot more than a million dollars they won support, love and happiness all in a shoebox. And through these shoeboxes many receive the Gospel message for the first time. Nothing better.

I’m sure many of you who are reading this are wondering, so what does this have to do with your heart for kids? My answer is that it has everything to do with why I have a heart for kids. If I didn’t have a heart for kids my heart wouldn’t break the same way it does for any of the kids receiving these shoeboxes and I wouldn’t care to find the joy and forgiveness in kids. I always have felt like God has blessed me with being able to get down on the kid’s level. This is why I have a heart for kids, because God has blessed me with the opportunity to work with kids who love the Lord. If we can help a kid know Christ better then we should.

Train up a child in the way he should go; even when he is old he will not depart from it.
Proverbs 22:6

I have no greater joy than to hear that my children are walking in the truth.
3rd John 1:4

Children are a blessing not a burden.
