There is this song called “Counting Every Blessing” and there are lyrics that say, “I am blessed beyond all measure”, oh how true is this. In the first part of the being content two-part blog, I wrote about how I was convicted of this lately and how I realized that I was becoming more and more ungrateful. Quick side example, I love photography and videography, but it is super expensive and because I have wanted so many different things, like all the new cool camera gear, I have found myself doing stuff with what I do have less. I have asked myself why, because at one point I didn’t realize that it was because I wanted more than I wanted to do. When you are BLESSED to do something you are passionate about, it doesn’t matter what you have, just that you get to do it, All for the Glory of Christ.
Often it is the small simple things we miss that God has blessed us with and it is usually those things that fill us with more joy. 7300, now what on earth could this possibly mean? How can this number that seems oddly random be any kind of blessing in my life? Well, 7300 is the amount of days I have been blessed by Christ to wake up with another breath of life. I will say that 7300 is not spot on, its actually a little higher. Twenty years of life, which at least to me is crazy to think about. What’s your number? After you figure it out, just realize how blessed you are to have been able to wake up with another breath that many times. There are so many things you and I can be thankful for and blessed with, take a second and write down as many as you can think of. Personally, I have been blessed with an amazing family, some of the most awesome friends ever, a roof over my head, clothes to wear and so on. If I could challenge you all one way today and everyday honestly, it would be that you would show your thankfulness to those people in your life that God has blessed you with, and the best way of doing that is by just telling them. Seriously, just try it. Many people don’t understand the impact of just walking up to a friend or whoever really and just telling them what they mean to you. We should be doing this more often and we don’t, but I believe it will go a long way if we do.
When the world is weighing down on you and trying to tell you all you need is more stuff, remember that God has given you all you need and more. The GREATEST of those was His son Jesus. Jesus paid the price you and I deserved, because of His amazing love for us. I will be the first one to admit, I don’t usually understand why things happen, but it is the joy that is from Christ that makes every rough and terrible day, a day where the sun shines, laughter rings throughout the earth and praise to Him reigns. This joy I speak of isn’t sourced from an ungrateful heart, but it is sourced from God and a heart that is content. Wherever you are today, whether it be at the peak of life or in the dark pit where all hope seems lost, understand that you are Blessed abundantly and please, please unlike me, run away from wanting and be content with what God has given you. I hope that this convicts you all as much as it has me. Let me end with a verse, so that you might go through your every day and be encouraged.
And God is able to make all grace abound to you, so that having all sufficiency in all things at all times, you may abound in every good work.
